AMC AMX Javelin & others front timing cover crank oil seal tool. Custom made so putting in the oil seal from the back side of the old high compression trimming covers are able to be pressed in on a press, rather than hammered in and risk distorting the seal and having an oil leak. In my opinion the old covers are the best. The seal goes in from the back side making it impossible for the seal to come out. If you have a late model cover you can also use the seal boss from the front to press it in. But you really do not need this tool for that. This is a perdition made tool to fit the seal in and out, with an adjustable backing that you adjust after bolting the cover to three of the water pump bolt holes. Gently press in your seal, with your shop press.
If you do a lot of these motors, you will see the value in this tool. Most people think their oil leak is coming from their oil pump. Not necessarily. DID YOU HAVE A BAD TIME WITH THE SEAL?
