AMC 304 V-8, 988 transmission core.I am not a tranny guy, but I am calling this a 988 because it has the two support webbings coming from the case to the rear servo housing, (SEE PIC’s). That means it’s from a V-8 application. Your 904, 6 cylinder cases only have one web. If you do not agree with that statement and you are looking for a 988, then don’t buy it! I could be wrong, as stated, I am not a tranny guy. I know these tranny’s have a low 1st gear and take less power to run the front pump than the 727, but if you have a heavy car, they are not as strong. This one is being sold as a core, I got it and the converter was not wanting to come out. The converter pump drive of the hub was banana peeled, so I had to chain whip the converter out of the front pump.
